An unprecedented situation.

Events and activities are being canceled nationwide following President Yoon Suk Yeol’s declaration of martial law late Tuesday night. Many are wondering whether the end-of-year concerts will be canceled as well due to the uncertainty of the situation. Many agree that the situation is deeply unfavorable for the year-end and New Year schedules of the entertainment industry.

Agencies have been telling their artists to stop showing up to events and scheduled activities starting from the 4th of December, according to reports. Sources stated that the possibility of unexpected incidents would to be too great while the country is under martial law. The cancellation of events outside the capital is now inevitable in this current atmosphere.

Many companies are attempting to gauge the situation, as they have no reference point of what to do in such circumstances.

The last time South Korea was placed under martial law was in 1980.

One CEO of an agency commented, “We are currently monitoring the situation in real-time,” adding that, “we are in high alert.”
