Former T-ara member Areum has once again leveled accusations against her ex-husband.
Areum left a lengthy post on the 3rd of December, stating, “I’ve been beat on several occasions, and even then I thought of [our] children and held myself back. I don’t know how many times I’ve withdrawn my lawsuits. The videos of [your] assault are at the police station, enough to substantiate the abuse, you know. I won’t tolerate it anymore.”
Areum’s post continued, “If one’s mental illness is that severe, then I think that they should not only take medications but be hospitalized. I wonder how severe the situation must be if even your confidants are pleading with me to admit you to a mental hospital. I only came back because I thought that you’d finally come to your senses when you begged me to come, but you’ve just proved that it’s impossible to fix one’s habits.”
She then accused the subject of her post of being shameless, stating that, “Never would I have imagined that there was a person like you in the world, telling your wife and your own kid to leave because you couldn’t watch your own child for a single day.”
“Everyone, there’s a person who always blames their screw-ups on a ghost, because they’ve been possessed by a ghost, you see. Is it possible for a sane person to claim something like that? Even after all that, they dare claim that they did a good job. Fine. I’ll be your enemy now.”
Though Areum did not specifically name anyone in her post, many assumed that the subject was her ex-husband from the mentions of abuse and a child.
Areum accused her ex-husband of physical abuse in March of this year, further claiming that he was addicted to gambling, took out loans recklessly and had never once given her money for basic needs. According to Areum, her husband at the time would frequently drop and throw their infant child onto the bed. She also claimed that he and his mother had abused the couple’s oldest child, who was five at the time, by hitting, pushing and forcing the child out of the house if they were too loud while the adults were napping.
She went on to allege that her ex-husband had spit and urinated on his children’s faces, and had on one occasion even defecated on the oldest child’s face. At the time of her accusations, Areum had submitted photos of the bruises on her children’s bodies as evidence of her ex-husband’s abuse.
Areum’s ex-husband “A” refuted her accusations and filed a counter-suit against her for child abuse. While “A” received a non-prosecution disposition, the police determined that there was sufficient cause to believe that Areum had abused her children and forwarded the case to prosecutors.
Areum was previously accused of fraud for scamming her acquaintances and former fans out of an amount of 37 million KRW ($25,638) with the help of her boyfriend, an individual who is not her ex-husband.
Areum announced news of her remarriage soon after her divorce last year. Last month, she and her husband announced the birth of their third child. Soon after on November 4th, they confirmed Areum’s fourth pregnancy.
